bullet SCHS's Center for Early Intervention organizes a lucture

22/10/2008

On Thursday, 16th, October, 2008, SCHS's Center for Early Intervention organized a lecture about the latest technologies and aiding tools for the blind by Mr. Oda Hazeem, head of NATTIQ Technologies. This event corresponds to the International Day of White Kane on 15th, October. NATTIQ Technologies is dedicated to turning the English software which aids the blind into Arabic such as Hal screen readers, Hal scripting, and headsets talk software. It also focuses on the latest trends and services concerning the blind in the Arab world.

Hal Pen is the latest technology NATTIQ Tech has released recently. It is a USB Pen that can be attached to a computer in order to read any text on the desktop. A blind person does not need to have a computer of his own. This pen can be attached to any computer and does the same thing. It is available in English and Arabic as well.

Another technology is the Reading Camera which is available in English only. The book or the page is placed on camera's base. The camera starts filming while the computer starts reading the text. Students can benefit from this camera in classroom by the use of a headset. They can now take a test without getting the help of a new one to read the questions.

Another major technology is (Talks) software, which enables the blind from using his mobile phone as normal people. When installing this software on any mobile phone, it can read the numbers and names of callers instantly.

Mobiles are going to be provided with software similar to Reading Camera technology in order to enable the blind from dialing numbers and reading texts by just using his mobile phone.

Among these magnificent tools is the Supernova USB, which is attached to computers in order to make the fonts larger for partially sighted people.

Mr. Oda Hazeem, head of NATTIQ Technologies pointed out that among the tools are devices such as talking clocks, alarm clocks, key chain clocks, temperature announcers, Braille watches, Braille wave and many other devices.
