As part of its great concern to provide the most advanced level of services to the disabled and in order to benefit from the global experience of facilitating access to databases and technological means for the disabled according to a comprehensive systematic approach, SCHS has been working intensively to prepare for the annual meeting of Global Alliance to Technology Easing Search (GATTES). The meeting will be held on 26th, November, 2008, with representatives from United States of America, Canada, Brazil, Denmark, Japan, India, Mexico, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Australia, Uruguay, Ireland, Kenya, Serbia, and United Arab Emirates as being the host.
Representatives will discuss last year's meeting recommendations, which was held in Canada on 17th November, 2007. In addition, they're going to elect the members of executive office, members of general board, discuss the financial report and school trust fund, determined membership fees, and discuss the minority reports. Finally, the meeting will draw the general policies of the Alliance and formulate a committee to follow the implementation of International Convention on the Rights of the Disabled.
The meeting, which is hosted by Sharjah Family Supreme Council, aims at activating the memo that her highness Shaikha Jameela Bint Mohammed Al Qasimmi has signed with Mrs. Pity Deon, (Canada) head of the alliance, along with Mr. Mukter Mohammed, (Saudi Arabia) vice president, on facilitating access to databases and technological means for UAE disabled.
This memo says SCHS has several priorities such as facilitating access to databases and technological means to United Arab Emirates handicapped, educate people about the needs of the disabled in general and to introduce them to accessibility means in public buildings and other facilities.
