bullet Female students from College of Dentistry at Sharjah University examine disabled students

12/03/2009

On Tuesday, 10th, March, 2009, ten female students from College of Dentistry at Sharjah University visited SCHS under the supervision of Dr. Ahmad Othman, a surgeon & a lecturer. The visit, which aims at training the third year students on social services and dealing with new kind of patients, is part of the memo of understanding between SCHS and Sharjah University. The female students examined students with special needs, who were mostly Down's syndrome in order to check for any problems that may need an immediate attention. The examination was done under the direct supervision of Dr. Ahmad Othman. The disabled students reacted positively with doctors and followed their instructions.

Dr. Ahmad Othman pointed out that this kind of training has the greatest influence on increasing students' experience and efficiency in their line of work. They will know the various problems and medications that affect the teeth of the disabled.

The practical training roots the information that the students have learned in class. Thus, it will be very easy for them to recall that information when they need them in their work.

Dr. Ahmad Othman highly appreciated the work of SCHS, which has never ceased to provide better services for people with special needs. Allowing the students of College of Dentistry to interact with disabled students enables them to take a closer look at their problems in order to find proper solutions for it.

The student Reema Osama Mardini considered this experience, which she undergoes for the first time, a fortunate addition to her knowledge. It gave her the chance to study the problems that affect the teeth of disabled children closely. The credit goes for the memo of understanding which SCHS has signed with Sharjah University.

Reema Osama has pointed out the importance of repeating such visits in the near future because it has a lot of benefits for both sides. In addition, it provides the doctors with a lot of information that they need in their practical work.

The student Hassna Talaal expressed her most sincere feelings of joy to participate in this visit and hoped for more fruitful cooperation between SCHS and Sharjah University.
