bullet A new era of global scientific cooperation

On Thursday, 25th, December, 2008, SCHS's Center for Early Intervention hosted a delegation from a prestigious university in Japan accompanied by a delegation from Medicine College at Sharjah University. The Japanese delegation was headed by Professor Komada while, Sharjah University's delegation was headed by Professor Hussam Hamdi, vice president of the university and head of Medicine College. The delegation, which included an Assistant Professor in family consultation Mrs. Nahead Abed Khaliq, visited SCHS to see the services and programs provided for people with special needs.

Guests were received by Mrs. Matha Hamd the vice president of SCHS's Center for Early Intervention, Mr. Mohammed Faozi the head of SCHS's Physiotherapy department, Mr. Jihad Abed Qader the head of SCHS's human resources department, Mr. Osama Mardini the head of SCHS's media & information department, and the journalist Hazim Shihat.

At the beginning of their visit, guests were welcomed by a banquet of flowers presented by a small student with Down's syndrome. Then, they toured SCHS's Center for Early Intervention and listened to a detailed explanation about the different sections and department of SCHS; its different branches around United Arab Emirates; and its different programs and services by Mr. Mohammed Faouzi.

Professor Komada said the main purpose of this visit is to take a closer look at the advanced level of services provided for people with special needs by SCHS, which has been overcoming many obstacles in order to better the life of the disabled. The administration of SCHS has been working wisely to reach a high level of rehabilitation and education for its students.

Guests have shown the feelings of admiration of what they have seen and touched in SCHS. In addition, they highly appreciated the efforts of Her Highness Shaikha Jameela Bint Mohammed Al Qasimmi the vice president of Sharjah Family Supreme Council and the general director of SCHS, in supporting people with special needs. They've wished to consider this visit a new era of global scientific cooperation.

Sharjah University Medicine College has very strong connections with SCHS. Both institutions signed up an agreement to allow seniors students in med school to practice on the disabled at SCHS as a constructive cooperation.

On Wednesday, 24th, December, 2008, the same Japanese delegation visited Sharjah University in order to sign an agreement of mutual cooperation between the two universities under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimmi, the member of UAE Supreme Council governor of Sharjah. This agreement will allow Sharjah University to exchange experiences with Japanese universities.
