It is not very difficult for the observer of SCHS's work during the last 3 decades to realize the essence of its work and objectives. These objectives are educating and rehabilitating people with disabilities in order to become reliable in the line of work. Their success indicates that the real disabled is the one who was defeated in life and not the one with physical disability but has all the potentials of success. The workers of SCHS strongly believe that if people with disabilities live in the right environment they can do astonishing creative accomplishments. The public is misled by the concept that people with disabilities only try to gain things by sympathy. Certainly, people with disabilities have proven their superiority and skills through time. The history is full with distinguished disabled ideals such as the poets Bashar Bin Bord and Abi Alah mahri, the musicians Mozart and Beethoven, and the writer Taha Hussain.
Strong well cannot be reduced to a certain category of people. A human ambition should not be limited to the categorization of a disabled or not. It is rather a legitimate right for all people. The public should respect this and support it to the extent of their powers.
SCHS will continue to work as an institution that has great concern in empowering the disabled in order to participate effectively in all aspects of life. Therefore, it should be thanked with moral and financial support. The Ministry of Education has dedicated a whole lesson in its religious studies textbook about the disabled students from SCHS. The mentioning of Mohammed the disabled is a great indication of the success that people with disabilities can reach.
The lesson is entitled "the power of determination". It talks about a number of people with strong well such as the prophet's Mohammed companion named Abdullah Bin Masoud, who used to recite the holy Koran loudly in order to teas the unbelievers in spite of his fragile body.
Then the lesson talks about a calligraphist, who lost both of his hands, yet he did not give up and started practicing with his toes until he perfected it. He used to say: if God wanted me to be without hands, he gave me legs instead.
Finally, the lesson speaks of Mohammed, who managed to turn his disability into a strong motive for learning and success. His mother found a shelter for her mentally disabled son in SCHS Center for Early Intervention. They both cooperated to improve Mohammed's knowledge, linguistics, and motion skills.
As a result, Mohammed managed to come first at Prince Sluta Bin Salman Bin Abd Aziz Al Saud Award for the Holy Quran for memorizing 20 Sura's of the last chapter of the holy Koran, two awards in the gulf region, the Award of Distinguished Education 2006-2007, and the second place in Shaikha Latifah Award for the Creations of Children. In addition, he represented SCHS in Youth's Center for Consultation.
To conclude, we say being a disabled did not stop Mohammad from continuing his studies. He is, therefore, an outstanding distinguished student with his morals and commitment. He dreams to be an announcer to prayers and to serve god with all this power.
