On Thursday, 2nd, April, 2009, the student Salim Bin Abed (SCHS's Daid Branch) arrived at Sharjah International Airport coming from Saudi Arabia after winning Prince Salman Bin Abed Aziz Award for the Holy Quran. At his arrival, he was received by his father, uncle, Mr. Ahmed Hamadi, head of SCHS's public relations department, and the journalist Hazem Dahee Shihata. Salim's father was so proud of his son, who in spite of his disability, managed to win such an important prize. His country is also proud of him because he has given an example of success for people with special needs in United Arab Emirates.
This achievement indicates Salim's insistence and determination to memorize and recite the holy Koran on daily basis. His teachers and supervisors, who did their best in teaching him and developing his skills, share this accomplishment with him. Salim's father has written a poem especially for this occasion.
Mrs. Nawal Ateah, religious studies teacher at SCHS's School for the Intellectually Disabled, who came back with Salim, has expressed the feelings of happiness and joy for Salim, who was better than the other contesters. Therefore, he was chosen to recite the holy Koran in the closing ceremony of Prince Salman Bin Abed Aziz Award for the Holy Quran.
Due to his outstanding recitation during the contest and the closing ceremony, Salim received a compliment from governor of Mecca, Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abed Aziz, who wished the best for him.
