On Wednesday, 11th, March, 2009, the School of Creative Sciences will launch the official opening ceremony of the Seventh Charitable Market at Sharjah under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Jameela Bint Mohammed Al Qasimmi, vice president of Sharjah Family Supreme Council & General Director of SCHS. The school will donate the revenues of this market, which will last for 3 days, to Sharjah Center for Autism as part of its commitment to support the institutions of the local community.
The annual charitable market, which is considered part of schools program of activities since its establishment in 2002, will provide financial support for the children who are suffering from autism. Statistics say 1 of each 150 children in United Arab Emirates suffers from autism. Families will be provided with consultation as well.
This market, which is sponsored by Dubai Sports City, Bukhatir Group, and Sharjah Satellite Channel, is expected to make more money than last year because of the generous attentive donations of visitors and institutions. The three days of the market will be packed with entertaining and cultural activities for children from all ages. The market will include enormous collections of pottery, homemade, and handicrafts products, games, books, and souvenirs. Visitors can buy anything they like in order to support their local community.
This event is organized annually in order to support nonprofit organizations working in various fields. For example, this event has supported many institutions in previous years such as Sharjah Institute for Social Empowerment, Sharjah Senior Citizens Home, and Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. Sharjah Center for Autism is one of SCHS's various departments.
Her Highness Shaikha Jameela Bint Mohammed Al Qasimmi, vice president of Sharjah Family Supreme Council & General Director of SCHS said: "this annual market is considered a generous gesture by the School of Creative Sciences in order to support any noble activities that contribute to the development of the local society. It is considered a primary source for money that supports the work of SCHS. Nowadays, Sharjah Center for Autism is in need for this money than ever. Because In United Arab Emirates more cases of autism children are discovered daily. Therefore, this money will be used to introduce the public to this growing disorder and provide affected children with anything they need such as rehabilitation, education, diagnosis, early intervention, and therapy.
Early intervention is very important for autism Children. It allows better socializing and more chances of proper integration. The rehabilitation process requires parents to receive necessary consultation in order to know the right way to deal with their disabled children.
Mr. Salahh Bukhatir, head of School of Creative Science's Board of Directors & vice-president of Bukhatir Group, said: "the school puts great emphasis on ethics because it believes that building a qualified human being is a priority for our country".
He adds: "we are proud in the School of Creative Sciences of our commitment to support the local community especially, people with special needs.
