27/08/2008

On Sunday, 24th, August, 2008, the School for the Intellectually Disabled organized a lecture entitled 'goose flock' as part of SCHS preparations for the new academic year in order to do the best to provide better services of education and rehabilitation for disabled students. The lecture, which was given by Mrs. Mona Abed Kareem head of the School for the Intellectually Disabled, had tremendous attendance by all the workers, trainers, and teachers of SCHS. Mrs. Mona started the lecture by congratulating the audience with the beginning of the new academic year and with the holy month of Ramadan. She pointed out that the main purpose of this lecture is to draw an outline for the new academic year in order to determine the best methods and strategies to follow by the staff to create a mutual cooperation between school and parents in order to achieve better results.

Mrs. Mona assured that the title of the lecture 'goose flock' reflects the nature of teamwork, which is suppose to take place between staff and parents. Teamwork means working together in harmony to reach an objective. It means also saving time and effort in order to achieve better results.

The process of formulating a working group allows the members of this group to reveal their best qualities, enriches the discussion, and builds mutual respect among them. There are several reasons for adapting such an approach. For instance, it helps doing more work, provide better solutions for problems, and introduce better communication between staff.

Trust, cooperation, high performance, creativity, concentrating on results, the ability to communicate in order to solve problems, and determining levels and roles are the main characteristics of working groups.

Mrs. Mona concluded her lecture by emphasizing the importance of mutual cooperation between teaching staff and parents in order to attract more disabled students to classes in order to have better education through class interacting and not the old fashion way of dictation.
