On Thursday, 20th, November, 2008, SCHS Al Amal Kindergarten & School for the Deaf Environment Group organized an opened day to emphasize the importance of maintaining a healthy environment. The students of Al Shola and FG Schools had participated deaf students with their activity. The main purpose of this activity is to emphasize the importance of living in a healthy environment in the minds of students. In addition, the activity will enforce the concept of integration of disabled with none disabled students.
The activity started with the national anthem of United Arab Emirates followed by a blessed recitation from the holy Koran by the student Fatma Bilal. Then, Mr. Abed Al Ati Mohammed head of SCHS's Environment Group, gave a speech in which he had assured that the Islamic law has put a lot of emphasis on keeping the environment clean in order to avoid doing any harm to our bodies and minds.
He said that Prophet Mohammed (peace is upon him) had taught us to take a good care of trees because they have many benefits to human beings such as shade, oxygen, and fruits. He once said to his companions: "If anyone of you was holding a seedling, he must plant it before the beginning of judgment day". Therefore, the Prophet was very concerned in maintaining healthy environment.
After that, the students sang the song entitled 'I am from United Arab Emirates' followed by 'formulate the sentence' contest. Then, a doll play was displayed. The play talked about the importance of maintaining healthy environment. In addition, a painting workshop was organized in which deaf students created magnificent paintings about the same subject. Finally, a sketch entitled 'dewdrop' was organized.
Students were divided into groups to compete in the contest 'best plant', which the students from Al Shola School had won the first place.
The activity was concluded by the sketch entitled 'noisy band', which was performed by the deaf students in an atmosphere of joy and happiness.
