On Wednesday, 19th, November, 2008, SCHS's delegation, which included Mr. Emjad Tawahee head of SCHS's Vocational Rehabilitation & Training Department, Mr. Ahmed Hamadi head of public relations department, Mr. Mohammed Faouzi head of physiotherapy department, and the journalist Hazim Shihata, visited Government of Sharjah-Control Department of Administration. They were received by Chief Saied Harib head of rehabilitation department and Lieutenant Arif Shareef an executive.
Chief Saied Harib welcomed the delegation and gave a brief introduction about his department. Its main goal is to teach students useful things to fill their time and earn them some money in case there is no one to support them.
The department is providing in addition to education and rehabilitation, programs that help students develop their skills and potentials in order to enrich the outcome. The program entitled 'set your self free with the holy Koran' is a very good example. It is held under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimmi, head of Sharjah Family Supreme Council. A ceremony will take place next week to honor the participants in this program.
Government of Sharjah-Control Department of Administration is participating also in various activities held by governmental and private sectors. Therefore, the department has a chance of displaying its products for the public. This would indicate the advanced level that the students have reached during their rehabilitation period at the department.
The department includes laundry, carpentry, electricity, handicrafts, and construction workshops. After perfecting their craft, each trainer gets paid a monthly salary in order to motivate him to put more dedication into work. The department believes that money is important in stimulating more work out of labors.
Then, the delegation accompanied by Chief Saied Harib and Lieutenant Arif Shareef toured the different workshops of the department, where they have listened to an explanation about how to teach students handicrafts. They've seem how wooden boats are made, how to paint on glass, and how to repair electrical devices in males and females workshops.
Furthermore, the delegation visited Al Aman Social Services House and listened to a demonstration about it by Mrs. Marym Abdullah, general director. The house takes care of female students' children. The mothers are allowed to sit with their children four hours a day in order to look after them.
SCHS's delegation spokesman has pointed out that the main purpose of this visit is to exchange experience with different administrations and benefit from the techniques used in the department's rehabilitation section in order to apply it in SCHS's Vocational Rehabilitation & Training Department as part of the cooperation process between the local institutions.
Finally, SCHS's delegation highly appreciated the work done in Government of Sharjah-Control Department of Administration and hoped for the cooperation between both institutions to continue in the future for the best in interest of people with special needs.
