bullet A Day of Joy at Al Amal Kindergarten & School for the Deaf

17/09/2008

On Sunday, 14th, September, 2008, Al Amal Kindergarten & School for the Deaf organized a ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. The ceremony was attended by students, teachers, and all the workers of SCHS. It started with the national anthem of United Arab Emirates followed by a blessed recitation from the holy Koran. Then, the celebration host gave a speech in which he welcomed guests and wished the best for the students of Al Amal Kindergarten & School for the Deaf.

After that, a teacher of Islamic law spoke highly of the virtues of the holy month of Ramadan. Muslims should do more effort in worshiping God in this holy month because they will be awarded highly by God almighty.

The teacher added that fasting is not only stopping eating and drinking during the daylight; it is rather stopping bad behavior such as lying, deceiving, and harming people etc… Muslims should consider the holy month of Ramadan as a school of ethics and good manners in which they learn how to behave like an obedient Muslim.

Then, Mr. Elias Al Tabah presented teaching skills for the deaf on how to use the remains of their hearing capabilities which they should practice frequently in order to develop it.

A group of the activity board members presented some cultural sketches and a play in which reflected a variety of behavioral situations. Teachers participated in the cultural & sports contests. The contests included putting the lunar and solar months in their chronological order and drawing some paintings about the holy Journey of pilgrimage to Mecca.

In addition, the first and second grade students preformed a sonnet under the supervision of their music teacher Mrs. Miada Salmon and special education teacher Mrs. Taghred Samiree entitled 'Welcome Ramadan'.

At the end of the ceremony, Mrs. Saher Mohammed gave a lecture entitled 'fitness in Ramadan' in which she explained the importance of sports in Islam. She said that Prophet Mohammad 'peace is upon him' said that a strong believer is more preferable than a week one. Therefore, the Islamic teachings encouraged doing sports in order to stay fit and be a useful member in the Islamic society.

Mrs. Afaf Haridi, head of Al Amal Kindergarten & School for the Deaf, highly appreciated the efforts paid by the teachers and the students in order to make this day a great success.
