The issue 234 of Al Manal magazine was published recently in June, 2009. It is a monthly-specialized magazine issued by SCHS to discuss matters and problems concerning people with special needs in United Arab Emirates and the Arab world. Her Highness Shaikha Jameela Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, general director of SCHS, is the editor. The open-editorial entitled 'Al Manal… should be online, a hard copy or both' talked about the 22nd anniversary of Al Manal Magazine. It has been the only place where people with special needs could talk about their issues and problems loud and clear. It has been covering these issues and problems with total objectivity and realism.
The article mentioned the impact of the global financial crisis on institutions and individuals. Although SCHS has a nonprofit policy in providing services for people with special needs, it has been affected by the financial crisis. Therefore, a new creative means of saving is required especially in the humanitarian field.
The open-editorial suggested designing a web site for Al Manal magazine instead of publishing hard copies as a correspondence to the rapid changes around the world. Many international magazines and newspapers have done the same. However, this will not be done before asking the readers about their opinions.
SCHS prepared a balanced questionnaire for this purpose. Readers can fill the questionnaire provided with Al Manal 234 issue then send it back to SCHS by fax. Or simply, they can login SCHS web site www.schs.ae; download the attached file; fill out the questionnaire and send it back by e-mail.
