bullet Al Amal Trial in Khorfakhan

24/01/2009

On Tuesday, 20th, January, 2009, the activities of Al Amal Camp continued for the third day with delegations from gulf countries and Syria. After their return from Sharjah Natural History and Botanical Museum, delegations participated in the workshop organized on camp's location. It included many activities such as arts, crafts, electronics, nutrition, and carpentry workshops. At night, participants gathered under camps tent around their host Mr. Magid Osaimi, who has much of skill, intelligence, and sense of humor to attract disabled children and keep them from getting board. There was the talented disabled child Bader from Saudi Arabia, who formulated a double team in hosting the night party with Mr. Magid Osaimi. Hopefully, the cooperation between them will continue in the future. The night party included many interesting contests, where everyone was a winner.

On Wednesday, 21st, January, 2009, the delegations went to Khorfakhan city in a picnic. First of all, they visited Khorfakhan's Public Park, where they enjoyed the entertaining program with many games and contests that brought happiness to the hearts of disabled children. They have also enjoyed the magnificent landscape of the east coast of United Arab Emirates as much as they have enjoyed the entertaining program.

Then, they moved to the Oceanic Hotel, where they took a break and had lunch. After that, hotel's administration organized an entertaining program with many games and contests. They also distributed gifts and souvenirs in order for the small children to remember this pleasant visit. Then, participants went on a sightseeing journey around the city of Khorfakhan. On their way back to SCHS, they stopped by the flea market for some shopping of their own.

Mrs. Laila Mahfoth, a teacher in Shikhan Al-Farsi Center for Total Communication in Bahrain, has pointed out that this journey was well organized and multiplied the happiness of people with special needs. It made them feel as if they were at home surrounded with all love and care by their families and acquaintances.

She has thanked deeply all the workers and volunteers in Al Amal Camp, who have proven their competence and care for people with special needs.

Mr. Hisham Abed Razaq, the head of the Kuwaiti delegation, said: "the least we can say about this journey is that it was astonishing in its different stages, which indicates the perfection in preparing a pre-schedule ahead of time before the camp by SCHS. This explains the happiness shown in the faces of participants from different countries".

He added that SCHS has been working hard to maintain a wide space of happiness for people with special needs to fly in along with ordinary people without fearing negative perspectives or offensive vocabulary. This should be a constant culture for the workers in the field of disability and ordinary people alike.
