The winning book, which is 160 pages, contains three chapters. The first chapter talks about the historical background of cerebral palsy syndrome; its meaning, and some related topics. In addition, the chapter talks about its commonness, causes, and symptoms which can allow early discovery. There are also classifications for its types and a description for some of its characteristics.
The second chapter talks mainly about treatment and the role of physiotherapy in handling cerebral palsy syndrome. It is rather a complicated case that concerns the cooperation of several techniques. The third chapter talks mainly about some reactions of parents, who have children that are suffering from this syndrome. Parents' role and cooperation with therapists is very important for successful treatment and rehabilitation.
According to the author of this book, he has written it because the libraries in the Arab world have little of such books especially, when only a few institutions are providing services for these cases. In addition, courses specialized in disability coast a lot. On the other hand, providing accessibility to information about disability for parents and therapists; establishing strong connections between parents and institutions working in the field of disability; and providing financial support to SCHS are key factors in fighting disability and minoring its negative effects on the society. It is a sacred mission for everyone.
The book is expected to give a clearer notion about cerebral palsy syndrome, which is a group of symptoms rather than a disease that needs a lot of work and cooperation from several institutions. The book gathers enormous number of new skills and treating techniques, which will change the general view of therapy in such cases. It also emphasizes the importance of physiotherapy in the rehabilitation process.
Mrs. Fatama Hjazi, PH.D in physiotherapy at Sharjah University has read the book and said: "I have read the book and enjoyed it a lot because it has very important information. The author has a smooth writing style, which attracts common people and specialists alike".
