On Thursday, 10th, October, 2008, SCHS received the director of Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority Mr. Waled Bin Khadim, who was accompanied by Mr. Abed Ruhman Salmman, head of BR Department at the administration building. Guests were welcomed by Mrs. Mona Abed Kareem, head of the School for the Intellectually Disabled, Mr. Jihad Abed Qader, head of SCHS human resources department, Mr. Ezzit Abed Razaq, SCHS accountant, Mrs. Mitha Hamad Bin Mujrin, vice director of SCHS Center for Early Intervention, Mr. Osama Mardini, head of SCHS's Media & Information Department, and the journalist Mr. Hazim Dahee Shihata.
This visit is part of SCHS's program of informative visits to show the services of education, rehabilitation, and training provided for people with special needs in spite of their numbers or nationalities and its costs to sponsors. Many families with disabled children cannot afford paying for these services. Therefore, 85% of those students are waive, while the other 15% pay only 10% of the total cost.
Guests started their visit by touring the different sections and departments of SCHS's Center for Early Intervention. They listened to an explanation by the trainers and employees about the different services provided for infants from the stage of discovering their disability until the age of five. Then, guests moved to the School for the Intellectually Disabled, where they listened to a detailed explanation by the principle about the different methods and techniques used in teaching and rehabilitating people with special needs.
After that, a meeting was held at the administration building that was attended by Mrs. Khadeja Bamakhramah, personal assistant of SCHS's general director and Mr. Ahmed Hamadi, head of SCHS's public relations department. The meeting consisted on a PowerPoint demonstration presented by Mrs. Mona Abed Kareem about the different sections and departments of SCHS and it's educational and rehabilitation services provided for people with special needs.
The director of Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority Mr. Waled Bin Khadim highly appreciated the advanced level of which SCHS's workers have reached in providing knowledge and rehabilitation for the disabled in order to build their personalities and support their self esteem which will lead them to become very successful members in the society.
The director of Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority Mr. Waled Bin Khadim pointed out their will of employing rehabilitated and worth trust students in order to support SCHS orientation in making its students financially and socially independent.
The workers of SCHS assured that this visit is part of her highness Shaikha Jameela Bint Mohammed Al Qasimmi instructions to inform sponsors about the different programs, activities, and services provided for people with special needs and its positive effects on them and on their families. They thanked the delegation for their concern in the noble work of SCHS and for their efforts in supporting and sponsoring it. They also wished for the cooperation between them to continue in the future for the best interest of people with special needs and their society.
